The Pyramids of Giza are the largest and most recognizable pyramid structures in the world. The Old Kingdom was the first great era of Egyptian civilization and lasted from 2686 to 2181 BCE.
The Museum of Egyptian Antiquities, known commonly as the Egyptian Museum or Museum of Cairo, is home to an extensive collection of ancient Egyptian antiquities. It has 250,000 items, plus a massive amount of items in storerooms.
On the ground floor are artefacts from the New Kingdom, the time period between 1550 and 1069 BC. These artefacts are generally larger than items created in earlier centuries. On the first floor there are artifacts from the final two dynasties of Egypt.
Two special rooms contain a number of mummies of kings and other royal family members of the New Kingdom.
